Business Alliance for Local Living Economies

The Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE) provides a national forum for visionary local economy leaders and funders to connect, build their capacity, and innovate. On the frontline making it all happen are the “Localists” .  To help kick-off BALLE’s annual conference and launch its “Be a Localist” campaign, Deborah Frieze commissioned a photo-film illustrating shared ownership, one of BALLE’s eight stepping-stones to real prosperity.

With the help of Zingerman’s Community of Businesses, we came up with a four-minute film that walks the audience through real ownership.

The story: Paul Saginaw, Co-Founder of Zingerman’s Community of Businesses, passionately shares his vision for how Zingerman’s is turning workers into co-owners of its $50 million business and why taking a local approach matters.

DEBORAH SAID…

Dan has an extraordinary gift for observing people and place through his eyes, his ears and his heart. When he feeds that listening back as creative expression, something true and beautiful is revealed
